CONFIRMATION

The Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated on April 1st in St. Pius X Church. Bishop Eamonn Walsh officiated at the ceremony. Very sincere thanks to Ms. O’Neill and Ms. Lally for their incredibly hard work in preparing the boys so well and producing such wonderful artwork. The choir performed beautifully at the ceremony. We feel it is important to note that boys of all musical ability from Mr. O’Sullivan’s, Mr. Coyle’s, Mr Réamonn’s and Ms. Purcell’s sang in the church. The collegiate support which is very evident in all areas of our school life was particularly obvious by the attendance of so many teachers at the ceremony and was very much appreciated by Ms. Lally and Ms. O’Neill. Both 6th classes have offered to donate some of their Confirmation Money to charity. Ms O’Neill’s class are donating to the ISPCC and Ms. Lally’s are donating to The Hospice in Harold’s Cross.

COMMUNION

The Sacrament of Communion will take place on Saturday 6th May at 11.30 am in St. Pius X Church. Ms. Elliott and Ms. Dempsey are preparing the boys well. The boys celebrated the Sacrament of First Penance on 14th March. The sense of spirituality was quite palpable for children so young and moved both parents and teachers alike. We all look forward very much to the First Holy Communion.

CHOIR

The school choir travel out of the county on the 27th April to participate in the Bangor International Choral competition. We wish Ms. Purcell and the boys well. A cake sale has been held in the school to fund the trip. Many thanks to all the parents who baked or bought a cake!

SPORT

Hurling Ms. Dempsey’s and the Junior hurlers have won 4 out of 4 and should qualify for the semi final. The Seniors have won 3 out of 3 and look a good bet to qualify for Croke Park. Well done to Mr. Robinson and team.
Olympic Handball Ms. Kneafsey and Ms. Dunne are doing great work with the handballers. The Senior team (Capt. Sean McKenna) were runners up in the Dublin Finals. Daniel Hynes is the top scorer. The Juniors (capt. Tiarnan Creagh) have won 4 out of 4 and are looking good for a place in the Dublin Finals.

ATTENDANCE

We would ask that you would inform the class teacher in writing if your child is absent and we take this opportunity to remind you that absences of more than twenty days are automatically referred to the NEWB.

TROCAIRE

We know the boys are doing their utmost, collecting for this worthy cause. We will of course be delighted to accept them, but we would ask you not to send them until after Easter as we cannot accommodate them before then.

TESCO

We have reached that time of year again – Tesco Vouchers. It would be gratefully appreciated if you can collect these vouchers, in order for us to acquire televisions and computer software for the school. Our target this year is 45,000 and with your help we will achieve our goal.

SPANISH CHILDREN & ROCKBROOK

Rockbrook is looking for host families from April and if you are interested please contact Niall @ 4936692 or email info@rockbrookinternational.com.

SAFETY AT OUR SCHOOL GATES

We would ask everybody to be aware of safety in this regard. It would be very helpful if pedestrians could use the pedestrian gates at each side of the main entrance gate. Please note only staff cars are allowed into the yard at any time.
