ST. PIUS X BOYS NATIONAL SCHOOL
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s hard to believe that we have reached the mid term break. The boys have had a wonderful half term. Everyone has worked very hard and deserves a well earned rest.
Parent/Teacher Meetings:- Parent Teacher Meetings will be held on Thursday, 15th November. School closes at 2.30p.m.. Parent Teacher Meetings will commence at 2.45p.m.
Science:- Our science room is up and running again this year. “Science Week” is just around the corner and many activities have been organised for the children for this week. Check out our website in November to see what we got up to!!
Also 3rd class are involved in a very exciting project with The Irish Wildlife Trust, which aims to develop our local park as an educational resource. We will keep you updated about the project on our school website.
Interactive Whiteboards:- We are very pleased to announce the arrival of 8 new interactive whiteboards which will be installed the week after our midterm break. We would like to thank our very supportive Board of Management for funding this project and for their forward thinking in this collaboration. We hope to fundraise for a further 8 boards in the very near future. We are fortunate to have such competent teachers who will utilise this fantastic resource to its maximum potential which will greatly enhance the learning experience of your child. These boards are a fantastic facility and are the teaching resource of the future. They allow the teachers to quickly access resources across the curriculum which facilitates a hands-on interactive education.
Hurling:- For the first time ever training is underway for 3rd classes in Bushy Park after school. With one session under their belts, the young hurlers are already showing great promise and the future of the game in the school looks very bright indeed. Brian Dillon and Gráinne Corcoran will join Pat Robinson and Gearóid O’Fathártha in training the hurlers this year. We plan to have 4th, 5th and 6th classes training in Bushy Park shortly after the Halloween Break also.
Application Forms:- The final date for return of application forms for entry to Junior Infants for the school year beginning September 2008 is November, 30th 2007.
Uniforms: - We are delighted with the huge percentage of boys wearing their uniforms to school. They look very smart and we would encourage everybody to do likewise.
Voluntary Contribution: - We would like to thank all of you very much for your Voluntary Contribution. The response has been overwhelming and your generosity is really appreciated. Receipts were issued but if you have overlooked this, it’s still not too late. I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy Halloween.
